Taxing a Branch Office
Details:
My company wants to generate revenue in India but not sure if we shall accept checks in the name of our US based company or open up an Indian company. We are looking into Branch Office structure.
So, could someone tell me how a Branch office is taxed in India as compared to an Indian company?

I.T.Act allows.....
I.T.Act allows tax exemptions to both Branch & Indian company same way. However, it may be noted that Branch Office of a foreign company attracts corporate tax @ 40%+ SC (10% of tax) +Cess (3% of tax + SC) Total = 45.32% against Indian company 30%+SC+Cess.Total 33.66%
